    We are pleased to share with you the first edition of our regional newsletter covering the main activities that the Uganda Rwanda and Burundi Regional (URB) delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) carried out in 2022.

    The ICRC, like many humanitarian organizations continues to constantly reinvent and adapt itself to increase its relevance in Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi. Our new regional structure will help us confront new humanitarian challenges affecting communities in the Great Lakes Region.

    We are committed to continuing effective and sustainable humanitarian action in the region in accordance with our principles of neutrality, impartiality and independence. Our working methodology to bilateral and confidential dialogue with the parties, our endeavor to preserve proximity with the victims remain unchanged, keeping the humanitarian response to protection and assistance needs of people affected by armed conflicts and our mandate to promote International Humanitarian Law at the heart of our action.

    The following document is an overview on the ICRC key operational highlights and achievements in 2022. It covers operations in Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.
