Festi’Terroir at the Parc des Bastions: a first | City of Geneva

Festi’Terroir is the result of the collaboration between three entities: the BioGenève association, the Office for the Promotion of Geneva Agriculture (OPAGE) and the City of Geneva. All three wanted the people of Geneva to be able meet producers, in the heart of the city. Indeed, the vast majority of farms being located in the outskirts, some city-dwellers only rarely have the opportunity to meet their farmers.

Promotion of organic and little-known products

This festival opens the ball of a program titled “Autumn of Taste”, which will also include the Geneva Week of Taste Competition for restaurants in September, as well as the first edition of the “Sustainable Food Forum” in October.

“This program is part of a sustainable development approach and of enhancement of culinary heritage. It aims to to raise awareness consumers and consumers to food qualityas well as celebrating the diversity of tastes and the craftsmanship», specifies Sandrine Salerno, Mayor of the City of Geneva. “The Festi’Terroir event allows Genevans to discover and taste products that they may not yet know, the canton’s agricultural production being particularly diversified,” says Alessandra Roversi, project manager at OPAGE. It also gives the possibility of learn about the different production methodson the operation of agricultural and food sectors.

The direct sales model will be honoured. The festival will also give pride of place to organic farms in the canton. Grégoire Stoky, co-president of Bio Genève, believes that “organic farms, on the rise, deserve to be better known to the public. Just like the specifications associated with it”.

    Enticing programming

The public will be able to enjoy a eclectic diningbased entirely on local foodstuffs, wine tastings and of craft beers. A big brunch will be on the Sunday program on registration.

And something to have fun with musical programming of choice, including FanfareduLoup Orchestra and Duck Duck Gray Duck.
