This cutting-edge robot, featuring the high-speed EcoBell3 rotary atomizer, will enhance the plant’s production capabilities by delivering exceptional paint quality while supporting environmentally sustainable processes.
BYD Auto Company Limited, a leading Chinese manufacturer of new energy vehicles, is one of the first Chinese automakers to establish a plant in Europe. The plant in Hungary will be equipped with more than 120 painting and handling robots supplied by Dürr, providing efficient and eco-friendly painting solutions for electric vehicles (EVs).
The plant’s painting lines are fitted with Dürr’s EcoRP series robots, available in both 6-axis and 7-axis models, which automate both interior and exterior vehicle painting. The 7-axis robot is designed to assist with opening the vehicle hoods, while the 6-axis model efficiently handles exterior painting tasks.
To ensure superior painting quality, BYD has integrated Dürr’s EcoBell3 high-speed rotary atomizer. This technology guarantees flawless paint application, ensuring uniform color, flow, and layer thickness. Combined with advanced environmental and color-changing capabilities, the EcoBell3 atomizer also allows for fast color transitions and significantly reduces energy consumption during the painting process.
The inclusion of Dürr’s EcoSupply P special paint system enhances efficiency further. This modular and standardized system effectively returns paint residue to the container, minimizing waste and reducing the environmental impact of paint and solvent residue.
For BYD’s diverse EV models, Dürr has also customized flexible-action feather roller cleaning robots, which efficiently remove dust and dirt from complex body surfaces, ensuring a flawless finish every time.
