Hager’s deep expertise in the U.S. upstream oil and gas sector, along with his strong strategic vision and operational track record, will greatly contribute to BP’s continued success.

With over four decades in the industry, David Hager has held senior roles, including Executive Chair at Devon Energy from 2021 to 2023 and CEO from 2015 to 2021. He has also served as Executive Vice President of Exploration and Production at Devon since 2009 and spent a decade at Kerr McGee, ultimately becoming COO and Senior VP of Exploration and Production. His career in the energy sector began in 1979 as a geophysicist.
Currently, Hager is a non-executive director at MRC Global Inc., a U.S.-listed infrastructure company. No additional disclosures are required under the UK Listing Rules.
Additionally, Ian Tyler, appointed as a non-executive director on 1 April 2025 and Chair of the Remuneration Committee on 17 April 2025, will join the Audit Committee, effective 2 June 2025.
In preparation for the upcoming retirement of Melody Meyer from the board at the 2026 Annual General Meeting, Satish Pai has been nominated to succeed Meyer as the chair of the Safety & Sustainability Committee. A formal announcement regarding the effective date of Pai’s appointment will follow.
