Hexagon Expands Public Safety Platform with Acquisition of CONET’s Unified Communications Software

(IN BRIEF) Hexagon AB has signed an agreement to acquire the Unified Communications Radio Suite (UCRS) software assets from CONET Communications GmbH to enhance its public safety technology offerings. UCRS integrates various communication channels—such as mobile networks, digital radio, CCTV, and satellite systems—into a single solution for emergency control centres. The acquisition will provide public safety agencies with a comprehensive, vendor-integrated command-and-control system. About 50 CCOM staff will join Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division. The acquisition is projected to generate around €10 million in revenue in 2025 and is expected to close by the end of Q2 2025.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 17-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Hexagon AB has announced a definitive agreement to acquire the Unified Communications Radio Suite (UCRS) software assets from CONET Communications GmbH (CCOM), a subsidiary of the CONET Group. The move enhances Hexagon’s capabilities in integrated emergency response by strengthening its public safety portfolio with a high-performance communication solution trusted by major emergency services.

UCRS is an advanced communications software suite designed for control centres, enabling seamless integration across multiple communication and information channels—including PBX, mobile networks, digital radio, public address systems, CCTV, video conferencing, satellite communications, and business information systems. When combined with Hexagon’s command-and-control technology, UCRS will offer public safety agencies a fully unified platform from a single provider.

“Reliable and multi-channel communication is vital for emergency operations,” said Norbert Hanke, interim President and CEO of Hexagon. “The integration of CCOM’s UCRS software into our public safety ecosystem is a logical and impactful addition. It enhances our existing solutions and reinforces our commitment to empowering first responders with cutting-edge technology.”

Already implemented in agencies like the Kassel Fire Brigade, the combined technologies from Hexagon and CCOM have demonstrated real-world value. The approximately 50 CCOM employees supporting the UCRS product will join Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial (SIG) division. Hexagon anticipates that the acquisition will contribute around €10 million in revenue in 2025, with profitability in line with SIG’s average margins.

The transaction is expected to close by the end of Q2 2025, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
